The agriculture sector in Luanda province is expected to grow by approximately 15% this season, reaching 275 tons of various products, compared to the previous 2023-2024 campaign, according to the provincial director of Agriculture. João Pedro stated that the indicators for the 2024-2025 agricultural year are promising, especially in vegetables, tubers, and cereals.
He also emphasized that in cereals, the focus is on the production of maize and rice.
“We have seen good initiatives from the farming families, encouraged by the Provincial Agriculture Office in the production of rice,” João Pedro highlighted, noting that the province is already seeing positive signs in the communes of Funda and Mazozo, which have had good production results.
For the new 2024-2025 agricultural year, preparations are underway, including a program being carried out in partnership with the Agricultural Development Support Fund (FADA), aimed at mechanizing the family sector.
The program has supported more than 17 family agricultural cooperatives, providing them with equipment such as tractors, multi-cultivators, and other work tools.
