Angola Presents Mining Potential at 3rd Diamond Conference

On the first day of the opening of the 3rd edition of the International Diamond Conference in Antwerp, Belgium, which began this week, Angola made two important speeches aimed at showing the more than 350 attendees the country’s mining potential.

The secretary of state for mineral resources, Jânio Correia Victor, presented the policies drawn up by the Angolan executive to promote mining projects to boost the diversification of the economy, thus creating a good business environment.

Angola, which is known internationally as one of the largest producers of high quality diamonds in the world, and with untapped reserves, offers opportunities for investment.

The Catoca mining company, which has been exploiting diamonds in eastern Angola for around three decades, emphasised at the Antwerp International Diamond Conference the joint efforts of the extractive industries to continue working to enhance the value of natural diamonds, given their importance in the lives of many families around the world.

With the Luele mine coming on stream in 2023, and with around sixty years of diamond mining, Angola is preparing to reach 14 million carats a year, as a way of responding to the country’s national development plan.

The international diamond conference in Antwerp ended yesterday and Angola signed several agreements with companies that are interested in investing in our country.
