The Ponta do Sol vessel, operated by Transinsular of the ETE Group, will now sail under the Cape Verdean flag and conduct cabotage operations between the islands of Santiago, São Vicente, Sal, and Boa Vista.
The announcement was made by the ETE Group, which confirmed that this became possible after the cargo transport vessel was officially registered under the Cape Verdean flag last Friday, the 16th, in São Vicente.
“This milestone represents not only the strengthening of the ETE Group’s presence in the country but also a strategic commitment to the economic, social, and logistical development of Cape Verde,” the group stated.
As a result, the Ponta do Sol, which had been operating on the Portugal–Cape Verde route since February, will now serve the islands of Santiago, São Vicente, Sal, and Boa Vista to offer “greater logistical flexibility and efficiency.”
According to the same source, this move grants the country increased autonomy in cargo transport and enhances its capacity to meet the demands of the domestic market.
The decision aligns with the ETE Group’s strategy to generate local value and contribute actively to improved global integrated logistics.
