Enapor Announces Inauguration of Mindelo Cruise Terminal on June 21

The Mindelo Cruise Terminal will be inaugurated on June 21, a “robust investment” in the modernization of national ports and the promotion of sustainable and inclusive tourism, announced Enapor – Ports of Cape Verde.

According to the same source, in a statement released to the press exactly one month before the inauguration, this is a “modern and strategic” infrastructure designed to position the country as an “excellent destination” on the international cruise circuit.

The inauguration ceremony is expected to be attended by national and international entities, representatives of the maritime and tourism sectors, institutional partners, and community members, marking “a significant step” for the economic and tourism development of Cape Verde.

The terminal’s “Jetty” pier is 400 meters long and 20 meters wide, constructed using 154 pillars.

The passenger terminal covers an area of 900 square meters, including exterior landscaping and a parking lot.

Overall, the construction works involved the creation of a landfill called “Ponte Terrestre” with 2,700 square meters, the dredging of approximately 124,000 cubic meters in the port basin and access channel, and the rehabilitation of pier number 09, which will serve small recreational vessels.

The works were carried out by the Portuguese-Cape Verdean consortium formed by the companies Mota-Engil – Engenharia e Construção, SA and Empreitel Figueiredo, SA.

The project was co-financed with 29 million euros (around 3.2 billion escudos) by the Government of Cape Verde, the ORIO Fund of the Netherlands, and the OPEC Fund for International Development.
